El padre contribuye al desarrollo del hijo con perfiles relacionales parcialmente distintos a los maternos: la "activación paterna" (juego sensible-desafiante, exploración, manejo del riesgo) y la sensibilidad en el cuidado predicen apego seguro, regulación emocional y competencia social. La contribución paterna es sumativa, no sustitutiva de la materna.
