Constructive and destructive marital conflict, emotional security and children's prosocial behavior

Three-wave study of 235 families (children 5-7 at wave 1) using SEM. Emotional security mediated the effect of BOTH constructive and destructive marital conflict on children's prosocial behavior: destructive conflict undermined security and prosociality, while constructive conflict (cooperation, resolution, warmth) predicted higher emotional security and more prosocial behavior over time.
