Loneliness and peer relations in childhood

Review showing that loneliness can be reliably measured even in young children and that childhood loneliness is shaped by peer acceptance, victimization, whether the child has friends, and the quality and durability of best friendships. Chronic loneliness is flagged as a marker of risk for poorer social-emotional development.
